          Cover Letter Rubric
        1. Does the cover letter target a specific job description and organization/company?
        2. Does the cover letter establish (1) the specific position the writer 
          is applying for, (2) interest or knowledge of the company, (3) the writer’s 
          relevant credentials in the first paragraph?
        3. Does the cover letter build off the resume or merely recap the resume’s 
          highlights?
        4. Does the cover letter convey a “you-attitude”?
        5. Does the cover letter provide detailed experience and education?
        6. Does the cover letter convey experience or skills relevant to the 
          demands of the position for which the writer is applying?
        7. Does the cover letter differentiate the writer/applicant from others?
        8. Does the letter use the correct format?
        Lessson 9: Grading Criteria
        Grading will be based on how well you follow formatting and guidelines 
          for Lockers class research projects proposal in Chapter 13; the 
          clarity of information shared; grammar/mechanical proficiency; design 
          and structure; citation and research sources.
         * Missing parts will result in a dropped letter grade.
          * Failure to cite in MLA format, or a consistent citation style, will 
          result in a dropped letter grade.
          * You must use at least two outside sources for the proposal.

        Your grade will reflect your performance in using all the information 
          you have learned throughout the course about professional communication 
          in business, including:
         * purposeful writing for action
          * focused attention to audience
          * appropriate tone and style
          * attention to the 4Cs of writing (clarity, continuity, coherence, concision)
          * effective and correct use of visuals
          * proper professional format
          * appropriate use and documentation of research
          * logical development and organization of ideas and arguments
          * professional overall presentation
